Yesteryear Collection

The Maxwell automobile came about because Benjamin Briscoe was convinced that the car he helped finance would never amount to anything. Ironically, that automobile was the Buick and only ardent car enthusiasts have ever heard of the Maxwell. Nonetheless, Briscoe's partner, Jonathan Maxwell, designed cars that delivered great value for money. One of the most impressive was the 1911 Maxwell Roadster, featuring a four-cylinder engine and surprising performance.
Designed with considerable charm and flare, this car was easily recognizable with its levers outside the driver's door, its black top with two windows in the rear and the spare tire positioned just behind the gas reservoir on the back. And now, every classic detail - from the headlamps to the gold decoration on the red chassis - has been captured in a die-cast model crafted by Matchbox Collectibles exclusively for The Models of Yesteryear: the 40th Anniversary Collection.
